Pedestrian bridges are typically lighter and more flexible compared to other types. Consequently, they are more sensitive to loading and often the effects are more noticeable. Some of them have been observed to generate unusual vibrations under regular loading conditions. The causes of all cases are discussed with options presented to reduce vibrations of lightweight bridge decks under pedestrian load.
