Deep Sky and the Voluntary Carbon Dioxide Removal Market Part 2
This is a joint meeting of Canadian Society of Senior Engineers and IEEE Life Members Affinity Groups. This series of presentations has been occurring for more than 20 years and is now being also advertised to the IEEE Northern Canada Section (NCS) Life Members Affinity Group (LMAG) through vTools and other IEEE LMAG’s and IEEE members depending upon the topic. At the same time the Canadian Society of Senior Engineers (CSSE) is using their national organization to provide information, the subject and speaker to members across Canada. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026. The meeting will open at 12:30 pm MDT (2:30pm Eastern), with the presentation starting at 12:45 (2:45 pm EDT). Please note the meeting originates in Alberta which is in the Mountain Time Zone, so if you are in another province you must account any necessary time shift. Presentation: Deep Sky and the Voluntary Carbon Dioxide Removal Market Part 2 Summary: In last year’s presentation, Deep Sky was introduced and projects and ambitions were discussed. This presentation will discuss progress by Deep Sky over the past year, the state of direct air capture carbon markets, and the engineering challenges remaining for scaling CO2 direct air capture technologies. Presenter: Leon Sutherland, P.Eng., Director of Design Engineering at Deep Sky Leon is an experienced engineer with more than 15 years of experience designing and fabricating power, gas processing, gas compression, and refrigeration facilities. He has a track record of delivering safe, cost-saving systems with expertise in facility process design, HAZOP, and Front End Engineering Design. Previously, he worked at Plasco Energy Group (now Omni Conversion Technologies), Startec Compression and Process, and Convrg Innovations. Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/553928
