IEEE EDS Seminar: “Electrodeposition for highly sensitive electrodes and renewable energy devices” by Prof. Farzad Nasirpouri
August 12 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Speaker: Dr. Farzad Nasirpouri, Professor, Department of Materials Engineering, Sahand University of Technology, Iran Abstract: Electrodeposition has recently attracted considerable attention towards the realization of nanometer size materials for functional applications. This seminar deals with our recent studies on the developments of surface coatings for highly sensitive electrochemical sensors and green energy devices including solar cells and electrolyzers. I will explain our works on the electrodeposition of Ni-base electrocatalysts including mesoporous films, Ni-rGO films, nanocrystalline nickel films and discuss their electrochemical activity for cyclic voltammetry sensors, HER and OER as well as methanol electrooxidation. In addition, I will demonstrate the capability of electrodeposition for producing halide metalorganic perovskite films for solar cell applications. After giving an overview on different novel functional electrodeposited nanostructures, I will focus on a new phenomenon called high-gradient magnetic force (HGMF) which imposed an extra-ordinary effect on electrochemistry at the nano-scale.
