Vancouver Section Centennial Monument Unveiled

The IEEE Vancouver Section Centennial Monument was officially unveiled in a ceremony held Sept. 28, 2013.
It was unveiled at its permanent location, east of Science World, near the intersection of Quebec St and Terminal Avenue in Vancouver.

A reception was held at Science World immediately following the unveiling.

Speaking at the reception were:

– Dr. Keith Brown, President IEEE Canada

– Mazana Armstrong, Chair Vancouver Section Centennial Committee and past Vancouver Section Chair

– Alon Newton, Chair Vancouver Section

– Gruja Blagojevic, Centennial Monument coordinator, Vancouver Section

– Davide Pan, artist and monument designer

The Centennial Monument was created as part of the Vancouver Section’s Centennial Anniversary celebration.

The IEEE Vancouver Section, founded in 1911, celebrated its Centennial Anniversary in 2011 and initiated a project to create a permanent monument. The monument commemorates the contributions of electrical engineers and members of the Vancouver Section to the development of British Columbia.
