Electron Devices Society (EDS) Technical Seminar by Dr. Renold Sam, Microchip TechnologyDr. Renold Sam, Senior Manager at Microchip Organizer:
This presentation highlights the role of Design for Testability (DFT) in the semiconductor industry, focusing on efficient testing of integrated circuits (ICs). It covers defect and fault modeling, including stuck-at and transition faults with scan chain architecture, as well as Boundary-Scan Description Language (BSDL) for JTAG and Built-In Self-Test (BIST) for memory testing. The session concludes with an overview of DFT integration with Automated Test Equipment (ATE). Dr. Renold is the Senior Manager of DFT at Microchip, leading a team of over 70 engineers across multiple locations and managing eight projects. His expertise includes BSDL, achieving 99.5% test coverage, CAT, silicon bring-up, and post-silicon debug. He has completed over 15 tape-outs, worked on 3D ICs, and is focused on advanced fault modeling techniques. Previously, he held senior DFT roles at AMD and Samsung. Dr. Renold holds a PhD in DFT techniques for FinFET circuits and has published papers on test coverage and 3D IC testing. He also mentors students as an Adjunct Professor. |
